Bay Harbor Islands is located at the north end of Miami Beach, bordered by North Miami on the north side, to the east by Bal Harbour and Surfside, to the south by Indian Creek Island and connected to the mainland by the Broad Causeway at NE 123rd Street.
In 1940, a New York lawyer, Shepard Broad and his wife Ruth, came to live in South Florida. In 1945, he acquired two undeveloped mangrove islands and by 1947 had the Town of Bay Harbor Islands incorporated. Within four years, the population of Bay Harbor Islands was 550 residents, and today, the population is over 5,000.
The two islands making up Bay Harbor are the 105-acre East Island, consisting of multi-family housing and a small business area offering the residents a complete selection of products and services, and the 103-acre West Island for single-family homes. Bay Harbor Islands has its own elementary school, the Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, shopping, fine restaurants, a tot-lot playground, tennis courts and two beautiful parks.
Bay Harbor Islands is a vibrant, private community of magnificent homes and luxury condos and only a short drive away from the exclusive, nearby cities of Bal Harbour and Surfside for more shopping and conveniences. Separated from the mainland by Biscayne Bay, living on Bay Harbor Islands feature the most incredible water views of the bay, the air of relaxation the Florida sunshine and breezes deliver and the magical lights of the Miami skyline at night.
